Seafood; Traditional American. Somewhere between family style and upscale, this restaurant's pleasing view of the lake compliments its nautical interior. The food, whether seafood or land fare, is well-prepared and nicely presented. The local seafood is always fresh and we recommend it highly. A popular spot for lobster dinners, service is a bit inconsistent and will vary from very attentive to harried, depending on how busy and how well staffed the restaurant is on any given night. Entree price range: $17.95 to $29.47. Casual dress; full liquor license; large sit-down bar area; catering available.

Contemporary American; Seafood. Nestled amidst the numerous restaurants and marinas along the south side of Flamingo Road, this just-like-all-the-others little building houses an outstanding upscale restaurant. The specials change often, and each one is better than the last. The dishes are highly imaginative and very well prepared. From the exquisite soups straight through to Dave's legendary "chocolate bag" dessert (a perfectly formed milk chocolate paper bag filled with a variety of ice creams and toppings), it is apparent that the chef genuinely enjoys his job. Weather permitting, sit out on the covered porch to experience the atmosphere of Montauk Harbor with the sharp contrast of haut cuisine. Casual dress; full liquor license.

Pacific Rim; Asian Fusion. Also known as "ENE"; located in the Lion's Gate Motel, just off the gazebo circle, heading toward the harbor. Upscale, this restaurant is a wonderful new addition to the East End. In addition to the outstanding job that has been done with the interior, the view is also worth seeing, should you arrive before dark. The variety of large and small plates are served per couple, so the more friends you bring, the wider the variety of flavors you can try. Do not, under any circumstances, miss the duck taco appetizer (unless, of course, you don't like duck). This dish alone should make you come back for repeat visits. Seafood; Snacks. Gosman's Dock is a tiny Disney-like-land of gift shops, seafood shops, restaurants, clam, snack or ice cream bars, etc. We will confine ourselves here to discussing The Inlet Cafe and The Topside. The Inlet Cafe is a self-service outdoor (only) dining deck overlooking (surprise) the inlet on the harbor side of Montauk. It features raw shellfish, fried calamari and other seafood on paper or styrofoam plates, beer, a pretty view, and a flock of regular seagulls who love diving for French fries or scraps thrown from the deck (thus popular with the kids). Topside is an upper deck (on the roof) with similar fare and full service.

Continental. This is undoubtedly the mother of all East End resort complexes. Humongous and multi-leveled, it overlooks a broad stretch of ocean beach. The complex features bars, cocktail lounges, meeting rooms, decks, pools, a health club, and ample parking. Although it is very well kept and does not look as old as it is, it predates recorded history and was once probably part of the European continental land mass. People visit here from as far away as Neptune for their lobster dinners.

Seafood. Family-style waterfront seafood house serving well-prepared shellfish and local catches. Although most dishes are simply prepared, the chef has seen to it that the seafood's natural flavors are brought out. In season, an outdoor dining deck overlooks the harbor with nice effect. The service is efficient, and the waitstaff is about as friendly as you can get anywhere. Ask for Lenny; he'll give you a big hug. Casual dress.

Seafood; Traditional American. Family-style restaurant featuring American fare prepared as it should be (their prime rib is excellent). Beautiful view of the ocean during daylight hours. Menu varies from day to day, but try the artichoke dip appetizer if it's on the menu. The only bad feature is the limited parking lot, which necessitates very tight maneuvering. One of our personal favorites. Full liquor license; indoor bar with pool table, large outdoor dining porch.
